From Custom Code to
Critical Infrastructure.
AVAV started in 2019 as a custom software studio. We noticed that the platforms South African businesses were using were too expensive, too foreign, or too generic. Global platforms didn't understand PAYE. They'd never heard of the UIF. POPIA compliance was an afterthought.
So we built our own. We engineered recruitment systems, bespoke bursary platforms, and HR engines that actually understood South African tax law. Over seven years and nine direct enterprise clients, we became the quiet digital foundation for some of the country's most critical operations.
But software doesn't run in a vacuum. The more critical our systems became, the more we realized Africa's digital transformation requires a full-stack approach. Software needs secure data centres. Data centres need reliable power. Everyone needs connectivity and cybersecurity.
Today, AVAV is a technology holding company operating six interconnected pillars: Telecoms, Data Centres, AI, Cybersecurity, Digital, and Solar Energy. We still build the bespoke platforms our clients love, but now we also operate the physical and digital infrastructure that keeps them running. We build for here, for us, for Africa.
